Eminem ‘Just Started’ Recovery Follow-Up

‘It’s about making songs now, trying to take that next step,’ Em tells MTV News’ Sway on Shade 45 radio Thursday.

NEW YORK — Shady’s back … back again! Eminem has spent the last few months locked in the studio, but he’s only just started working on his seventh major-label solo album.

Thursday night, hours before his special G-Shock performance in New York City, the Detroit rap machine confirmed to MTV News correspondent and Shade 45 radio host Sway Calloway that he is back in album mode.

“I’ve actually kinda just started. I’ve been on the move a little bit too, so I’ve in between things, sneak songs in here and there,” Em said during a radio interview flanked by Shady’s new super-group Slaughterhouse. “We actually just finished the [Slaughterhouse] album last week… Now I’ve got time to be able to start doing things for my own project.”

SH’s Welcome to: Our House is Welcome to: Our House is slated to drop on August 28 and the Shady boss is very excited about the release. “I feel like hip-hop needs this,” Em said of Royce da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Crooked I’s upcoming sophomore LP.

Em revealed that he signed the fearsome rap foursome at the top of 2011 and since then their project has been one of the most anticipated hip-hop releases. Knowing that the stakes were high, Em sat with the group of veteran spitters and crafted songs alongside them.

“All of Dre’s little tricks, I’ve stolen over the years,” Em said on-air and to the intimate room filled with music journalists and bloggers.

“It’s about making songs now, trying to take that next step,” he added later.

It’s been two years since Marshall released his last solo LP Recovery.
