Did One Direction Crash Twitter?

Site crashed on Thursday around the time of a Twitcam session Niall Horan was going to have with fans.

On Thursday (July 26), Twitter had some technical difficulties, making it impossible for anyone to get on the social networking site to tweet about their lunch, what they were watching on TV or any small grievances they may have had about riding the subway.

The timing of the crash seemed to fall in line with a Twitcam session One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan had planned on having with his fans. He shared that he’d be chatting with his fans right after a shower, an admission that probably got many Directioners’ hearts racing.

A rep for Twitter denies that the crash had anything to do with Horan’s Twitter session, explaining to The Sun that it had to do with a worldwide power outage, not Horan. As of press time on Friday (July 27), it was unclear whether the short-lived outage had affected Horan’s Twitcam session since he both thanked his fans for tuning in but later apologized. He wrote, “sorry about the twitcam! i just wanted to let you know whats been happening! <3 sorry.”

Whatever did end up going down, he did confirm that fans will hear new One Direction music very soon. “Guys love you all soo much! we been in the studio lately! we’re comin back with more music in the next couple of months! get ready xx.”

In addition to working on their sophomore album with the likes of Ed Sheeran, One Direction are also rumored to be among the many acts playing the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games on August 12. That rumor hasn’t been confirmed, but Horan’s excitement for the 2012 events is clearly evident. He tweeted on Friday, “Dont know if its just me, but the excitement in london is unbelievable! Its gona be a great games.”
